Recently, I've restarted an old nightly ritual for myself...once all my kiddos are in their beds, I sit down with my cup of chamomile tea and a paper where I write down all of the positive happenings from the day. I actually had a psychology professor in college who encouraged us to do this every night, and I just recently came across the notebook I used to jot down these notes, and remembered how refreshing and relaxing it was for my mind and soul to do this every night.
With all the negativity in our world today such as, the economy not doing well, people having difficulty finding jobs/paying bills, and the increase in crimes and violence, I felt this was something that I needed to start doing again in order to find more balance in my life.
It can be easy at times to fall into the role of being a complainer and/or Mr./Mrs. Negativity, which by doing the positive reflections at the end of the day helps me refrain from becoming that annoying complainer to my family and friends. As my Grandpa would sometimes say to us kids, "Nobody likes a complainer!"
I hope that this may inspire you to find more positivity in your daily life.
