Plumbing
This weekend was my first experience with trying to fix a leak by myself and I now understand why plumbers charge so much for their services...
1-it's hard, messy work
2-their bodies must get sore- I'm so sore today
3-even when it looks so simple, it can be so time consuming
Then I had to call upon the help of my dad and he gave me valuable pointers and we had it done in no time, of course that was after getting the proper supplies. :-)
Fall time
This is absolutely my favorite time of the year. We all love living out in the country -even our fur babies are happier!
Yesterday we burned trash for the first time and gathered all the recyclables to take to the recycling center. We also mended fences where trespassers have been cutting the wires to access our property. More than likely they are hunters since we have many deer on our property. We also nailed up several No Tresspassing signs -hopefully this will help.
This is my favorite photo of our property that my hunny took this week.
Officially homeowners
The home is officially ours! A HUGE thank you to our realtors whom battled along side us through the VA home loan process, (we never want to do that again).
We are all relieved to finally be done with the hideous requests and demands in which they were requiring us to complete this last week in order to close yesterday. The loan officer was fine...it was the VA underwriters who were the pain in our rears. Underwriters discretion my hiney, lol!
One of my coworker's hubby is also a Veteran, and as she put it, "Even though we have excellent credit, it's as if the VA underwriters try to do everything possible to not let you be able to have the loan. It's completely ridiculous all the hoops they make you jump through in order to get your home loan." -Amen sister!
So today is finally the day we'll completely move in, and hopefully this will be our last move ever. Well, until the kids have to place me in a nursing home anyways.
At the closing we spoke with the owner's daughter and received the history of the home, which I found interesting, so I'll one day post their story.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tomorrow is the day
We're to close tomorrow on the house we're buying... and we can't wait!
Tonight we did the final walk through and everything looked great. The boys walked out to the field to find a young doe, and did that ever excite them!
Can't wait...
I cannot wait to once again have my own kitchen, don't get me wrong, I am very greatful for my mother-in-law taking us in while we're going through the home buying process, but there's nothing like having your own place.
I have been amazed by how in just two months how much I miss certain kitchen items...
I miss using my kneeding board as well as the pie pan that was my grandmother's. I miss using my peace sign coffee mug for my morning dose of caffeine.
I can't wait to once again make our family's favorite blue berry cream pie
So much time has gone by...
So much has occurred since my last post. My hunny came home from overseas and is now out of the military.
My grandmother suffered a stroke and is no longer able to care for herself nor are any of us able to stay home full-time to care for her, therefore she was placed in a nursing home...the one place she absolutely dreaded. Unfortunately, there weren't any other options in which she was qualified, so it is what it is.
My oldest son has recently turned 16, which was bittersweet...I so proud of the young man he's growing up to be, yet it saddened me to realize just how quickly these past 16 years flew by. I feel like he should only be in 3rd grade -not 10th.
We're in the final stages of purchasing a home using a VA home loan...never will we do this again. We had heard the VA underwriters were though and picky, we just never could have imagined them to be this picky. The property we're trying to purchase has a barn out in the field and we had to get it inspected and check for termites. Our Realtor spoke with all the loan officers he knew and none of them had ever heard of such a thing needing to be done. So this home buying experience has been quite stressful. Therefore, I told my hunny that we better live in this house until we're super old and gray, lol! As I post this we are expecting to close on the house in 6 days. Wish us luck, we may need it.
